What this site had to do.
- Answer a driver’s first question: is it open right now, and if not, when.
- Make Get Directions the primary button, because the place sits on a highway.
- Give the daily plate and catering a home, not just the fixed menu.
02 / The decision
One thing I did differently.
The first screen carries a status card: “closed now — open Sunday at 11:00 AM”. A diner on Hwy 79 is visited by people who are driving past it at that moment, and the only thing they want to know is whether it is worth turning off. So the status sits above the menu, and the primary button is Get Directions, not Order.
