What the site needed to do
- Carry the Alice in Wonderland theme without turning into a costume.
- Show the cocktail and shisha lists side by side.
- Work in a dark room on a phone at low brightness.
One decision
The bar is themed on Alice in Wonderland, so the palette came from the room rather than from me: terracotta, forest green and gold. I kept those three and nothing else. The temptation with a themed bar is to add playing cards, clocks and rabbits until the site is louder than the place — a themed venue usually wants a calm site, because the theme is already doing the work when someone walks in. Gold is used only on the things you can tap.
